For the total abolition of nuclear weapons

Back

I experienced the tragedy of the A-bomb when I was in the first grade (13 years) of junior high school.
There are no words to explain that horror. Now I am 72 years old. I narrate my
A-bomb witness experience
to students of elementary schools, junior high schools and high schools. Besides this, I have drawn 1, 436 pictures (as of August 06, 2004) of the A-bomb Dome in the last 12 years. The A-bomb dome tells us
"Atomic weapons are real threat to the humanity". I also keep the words of the A-bomb Dome drawn deep into my heart and carry on with my narration and drawings.

A-bomb Dome
by Hiroshi Hara (1,539th work)
(This is the message received on August 06, 2004 during the visit to [Internet lantern floating]. This can be seen on [Peace message 111]. I had a chance to listen about the Dome pictures on NHK television network in October 2003.)

Come Spring, the trees and the grass are all waiting for you (March 05, 1994)

Beginning of March is early spring, but still cold.
There are pigeons around the fountain, but shivering
The water in the pond also looks cold.

Gone, where did yesterday's crowd disappear? (August 07, 1996)

There is no human shadow in front of the Dome today.
A lot of folded cranes and flowers are laid
Only one day's mourning
Only one day's prayer ceremony
In the hearts of A-bomb victims, every day is an August 06th

Again this morning, the cold makes me draw, people watch (January 18, 1997)

I keep drawing through the year, but, more during January and February
Itfs the coldest part of the season but, I feel I can concentrate
At times, passers by stop, watch me draw

Hands drawing the lines of the steps shivering, due to cold

Don't know when the next repair work will take place
So I draw, from different angles
I pray that it is not repeated, but, no building can do without it
It took me time to draw the steps
I praised myself for withstanding the cold

The thoughts of me living, my lost friend (August 06, 2000)

The day was hot. Today is the 55th anniversary of that day.
The Lantern floating ceremony started on the Motoyasu river in the evening
The crowd start to grow from now.
Each one of these lanterns carry the feeling of each person
Wish. Prayers. Memories. Mourning. Peace

Dark red constantly changing the beauty (September 19, 2003)

The sun slowly sets to the west
The Dome gradually chnages color to light grey
The color of the light in the sky grows
Itfs a silent time

The picture of the Dome, the happiness of drawing the picture, I'm grateful
(October 11, 2004)

I have drawn 1,501 pictures
This is a new beginning
Happiness drawing the Dome,
Grateful
Want to keep drawing
